Gary Lynn amos Obituary

I was saddened to hear of the passing of my long time colleague, Gary Amos on July 7, 2019. I was notified by Gary’s previous wife Robin Whitcomb. She felt it was important I found out from someone close to the situation instead of hearing it second hand through twitter or Facebook. Thank you Robin.

I don’t know if it is my place to say anything here, but I am going to. I worked for Gary Amos for 22 years at Amos Data Systems until February 2012 when I decided to strike out on my own to start this business.

But in pondering what that means, I remind myself that I would not be in the IT business at all, and would never have started such a business of my own had it not been for Gary Amos. I was not even looking at IT as a career on my radar when I met Gary sometime in the late 1980’s. I was going to be an electrical engineer. It was only by happenstance that I became involved in the IT project at the company where I was working, and began working with Amos Data Systems to make that project happen.

After leaving that company in early 1990, Gary Amos hired me to work for him at Amos Data Systems on November 1 1990. 22 years later, I had no idea that career would grow into what it is now.

I am sad to say that after I left Amos Data Systems, I did not remain closer to Gary. I understand that he had found a good life with his new wife whom I had only met once. But I always wanted to be able to say hi to my long ago friend and have now missed that chance in this Earthly plane. I know Gary is in a good place, and perhaps someday we will reunite a friendship in the life beyond life. Take it from me. Don’t wait to tell anyone how you feel about them while they are here, or it will be a while before you get to do so again.

I hope the best for his wife, children, and everyone ever touched by his life the give best that wishes and prayers can give.

God Speed Gary Lynn Amos.

I have been in the Information Technology Consulting business since 1987. I studied at Kent State University in the field of Industrial Technology with the desire to become an electrical engineer like my father before me. My segue into computer networking was a complete surprise that I gladly accepted as a way to move forward in my experiences. I learned networking from the Novell point of view, and that eventually led me into the Microsoft world which is where I have become an exceptional consultant. Away from business, I continue to perfect my musicianship and write music. I have a lovely wife, and darling daughter, and super step son, two cats, a dog, and some gold fish in my pond.
